Family Therapy and Psychoeducation/Interpretation of Evaluations
If your child struggles with just some of the items on this list, she or he could have a misdiagnosis or a missed diagnosis. You may be working with a treatment plan inappropriate for your child's needs. Difficulties with one family member affects everyone, just as family dynamics affect each individual family member. In addition to treating processing issues, I comprehensively address problems with emotional regulation, learning, social issues, using a family-systems approach. When parents have tried various therapies and assessments, but still cannot find the answers they need to help their child, I can help. I specialize in the interpretation of neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations, family psychoeducation, educational and therapeutic planning, and consultation with schools, so that all resources can be used effectively. I identify the child's individual processing style and emotional needs, assist parents and children in understanding how those are intertwined with family functioning, and create a plan tailored to the child and the rest of the family.

Solutions for parents who have tried everything and are still struggling with their children:

"Why haven’t all those tests, evaluations, counselors, and books helped?

Common Concerns

● Most education and mental health professionals are not trained to recognize the signs of certain developmental differences, and use incomplete or inappropriate intervention and treatment plans.
●Neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations are often expensive, but are delivered to parents without guidance for how to isolate and practically apply the most useful information.
● Much of what people learn about parenting at home or from mainstream parenting literature  does not translate for many neurological profiles; the best approach is often counter-intuitive and requires learning and training to understand what methods will work best for a child.
